Faelyn painting outdoors
An introduction

Hi!
I'm Faelyn.

I started drawing and painting when I was a little girl, and I never stopped doing that for long.

My work is heavily inspired by nature, the seasons and my imagination. I'm a person that looks under little mushrooms to see if there's a fairy living there, and you will see that reflected in my artwork. Being outside in nature, among trees, birds and flowers, sparks my imagination and soothes my anxiety. (And it gets me painting of course!)

I believe that our imagination holds many small worlds we can step into whenever we need them. Sometimes the "real" world feels overwhelming or scary. But in our minds, in our imagination, we can always find what we need, whether that is a place of beauty, wonder, adventure, or comfort.

I hope my paintings give you a wondrous little place to escape to, a moment to pause and breathe, and a reminder there is so much beauty to find in this world.

Outside of painting, I love gardening, baking, walking outside, doing yoga, and spending time with my husband, our little son, and our (little bit crazy) golden retriever.

For my paintings I almost always use watercolor, often combined with black fineliner. I started painting with watercolor around 2009, and it has challenged and fascinated me ever since. I'm drawn to the beautiful colors and the soft, dreamlike qualities. Because watercolor has a mind of its own, working with it has taught me a lot when to take control and when to let go, and go with the flow.
